Lovely poem for each bug, then a fact on each page and more facts at the end. The illustrations are lovely and I like how they have the feel of an old-fashioned field-book.

This book contains some good examples for poetic literacy devices, such as onomatopoeia and rhyming (along with rhythm). Along with the poetry itself, each poem has a small paragraph of informational text at the bottom of the page that allows readers to further explore each insect on their own. This could be a great introduction for students who do not necessarily enjoy nonfiction.
