The two main leads are strong characters, who are opposites in the eye of the public. When they have to co-mingle, the sparks are flying and the romance is blooming. Everyone should read this book.

3 1/2 stars. This is a light, fluffy mm historical in the style of Julia Quinn and other Avon mf romance authors. I go back and forth about whether or not I think that's a good thing. But I still keep reading this series because I enjoy it.

Quite a fun romp - Courtenay was an absolute delight of a character, made even more so by the fantastic audiobook narration. Julian was a bit more challenging to get behind, but he still had his moments.

I'm glad I read this one before Soldier's Scoundrel, because I ended up liking Scoundrel even more and reading them in the opposite order I think would have left me feeling a bit more let down.

“Missing you is profoundly inconvenient, I’ll have you know. I have things to do and places to be, and all the while I’ll feel like I’ve mislaid a piece of my soul and I won’t get it back until I see you again. That can’t be normal.”

Thats better than I love u if u ask me.

I like this authors work will read more

“Love was somebody aiming a pistol at your heart while you sat there and acted like it was perfectly fine because you trusted them.”

Historical romances are one of my all time favourites and I can't get enough of Cat Sebastian's world of post Regency England shortly after the time of Waterloo.

In this one we have a brilliant frenemies to lovers tale which links back to the earlier two books through the 'Mad Earl' and his recently returned from exile young son and his reprobate uncle.

Enlisting the help of one of the Ton's most proper gentlemen to help rehabilitate the rake, this story skirts through all the typical activities of the hoi polloi as Julian and Courtney desperately avoid falling in love.

While book one remains my favourite, this one comes in second as I absolutely adored the prim and proper Julian who was afraid he'd linger ill and alone all his days.

There is so much to like about this book. The characters are wonderful and believable, and I loved how they slowly gathered little bits of information about each other and themselves. So much growth in self-realization and the banishment of doubts based on what we think other people’s perceptions are. Or from what we’ve heard from rumors. lol That suddenly made me think of Shrek and Donkey talking about onions and parfaits, which is silly, but illustrates what I mean. I also liked how the little things are often the things that people fret about, because that’s true to life. Finally, when secrets are revealed that are damaging and hurtful, it was nice to have a situation where the characters were genuinely very angry and hurt, and confused, but they were rational about it (pretty much) and didn’t go off doing stupid things. Yay! I really liked this and plan to read more by this author. Also loved the cats.

It's a simple cute little story. Not too tense, or long-winded. It delivered on it's premise.
