This was an enjoyable read but not as great as I expected. I think I would’ve enjoyed it more if I hadn’t seen the movie so many times and basically knew everything that was going to happen. I also think it just worked better as a movie; I liked the characters more in the movie and I thought the scenes were more funny! But it’s a very quick read and if you enjoyed the movie, I’d definitely say give it a try! ☺️

This books was interesting. I liked the idea of skipping Christmas if not just for the consumerism of it all. However, I think the Kranks’ went a little overboard and that was kind of the point. I found several points throughout the book very tedious but there were some funny spots as well. Overall, this book was good. Not very rememberable but good.

The movie was better. I don’t know what I was expecting but it certainly wasn’t this. The movie was funny and the idea of your neighbourhood becoming infatuated with you continuing Christmas traditions was a comical masterpiece. However, in the book, it took everything so seriously that everything anyone did seemed over the top and incredibly intrusive ( lacked the comedy behind it). Also Blair (the daughter) was maybe a lot to quick in her decision making abilities (if you have read the book you know what I mean). Also Luther (main character? / father) was incredibly annoying and overdramatic. A quick holiday read but not a fun one, watch the movie instead.

"Imagine a year without the chaos and frenzy that has become part of our holiday tradition - this is just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they plan to skip Christmas and embark on a Caribbean cruise instead. But as this weary couple is about to discover - it's not as easy as that." (From Amazon)

Hahahaha so hilarious...so true if you don't do Christmas you are a GRINCH! Not the greatest novel but is funny.

Being of an age when it's not unusual to be a bit 'bah humbug!' about the festive season, I knew I would enjoy a story about a  couple who decide to skip Christmas. It depicts all the annoying, stressful and exhausting aspects of the season of goodwill in a way that I could completely relate to. Luther and Nora plan to escape from all that and go on a Caribbean cruise instead and despite feeling the pressure from their judgmental neighbours, they are determined not to cave. They avoid sending a single Christmas card,  attending a single Christmas party or putting up a single decoration and they excitedly count down the days to their cruise.  But then something unexpected happens and the couple are forced to  rethink their plans.

I found it amusing, without being laugh out loud funny.  I liked the characters, particularly Luther and Nora and I enjoyed their conversations and squabbles. All in all a nice, fun, heartwarming read.
