This was my first forray into audiobooks, and therefore probably not my first choice of book to read, but one I picked simply because it was free, which probably informs my opinion!
I didn't care much for the characters nor the story, but didn't hate it either - I guess it's a story of its time, with admittedly some funny quips and fairly nice writing! I did think the narrator had a nice cadence and managed to bring life and tone to the text as she read it.

it is mentionned that the sister of the main character is married to a bad man, with rumors that he might beat her up, though Josephine doesn't believe that is true

Medical content :

some of the characters catch a nasty cold or bout of flu during the short story and have to be bed-bound for a few weeks; there is not much more details about it
