Such a fun book! I listened to the audio version, which was read by Carol Burnett and I believe that only enhanced the book.

This was cute. I have loved Carol Burnett since I was a kid, and enjoy catching reruns of Carol Burnett and Friends. I enjoyed the audio, of course, as Carol reads it and giggles along with reminiscences. But the lengthy blow-by-blow descriptions of individual sketches really seemed unnecessary; I suppose if there's a time when all of the footage disappears this will be useful? But seeing as I remembered a lot of the sketches it seemed like a waste of space. I enjoyed when she gave little behind-the-scenes details much more.

I wasn't in the generation that watched The Carol Burnett Show as a regular, but I really enjoyed listening to her talk about her time on the show.

In Such Good Company…by Carol Burnett
⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Nonfiction November allowed me to dive into quite a few audiobooks. Growing up and spending a lot of time with my Grandparents, I was submersed in a world of older television. Carol Burnett was quickly one of my favorites and this wasn’t the first book by her that I’ve read. 🎧

This was all about her time on the Carol Burnett show - how it started, how they decided on skits/costumes, chapters on their guest stars that turned into dear friends, and even some life on the outside. 😂

It was a simple listen - especially as it was read by her - and I really enjoyed listening to what that time was like for everyone.

There’s not much more really to say, but it’s a five star read for sure!

I grew up watching Carol Burnett and her variety show when it was in syndication. My cognitively disabled older sister used her camera to take pictures of the TV screen of all the different characters Carol portrayed. As you can imagine with a show that lasted 11 seasons, there were a lot of characters! There were so many skits and sketches that are burned into my memory because they were just so fantastic. In Such Good Company doesn’t cover Carol’s whole life, just the years of the show. The audio version won the Grammy award for Best Spoken Word Album in 2017. Audible recently had a sale and I bought the audiobook.

Highly recommend if you watched The Carol Burnett Show like I did growing up and want some great nostalgic memories.

If you enjoyed the Carol Burnett show, then you'd likely enjoy this book. It's written in an oral style by Carol Burnett and the audio book is read by her with the bonus of sound clips from others when they are sharing their perspective. There are fun behind the scenes bits that are likely nowhere else told from first person experiences. The book starts with events that led up to the show's contract being a possibility and ends with gratitude for the time, people, and experiences with making many good friends as a part of the show.

This is a light read and would be well suited for driving or working on crafts.
