this was very good! i liked it a lot. extremely readable for a book about excessively complicated space stuff! it was a wild and crazy ride and one i am glad i was there for.
i didn't quite get jereth's motivations? unless i put it down to "secretly a super good guy" and i wish some of the relationships between the characters were as well fleshed out as the characters themselves but really, the story held up superbly on it's own. would recommend!

The middle dragged a lot. Its the whole reason why I stopped reading this book for months
Also the label lgbtq+ I don't think it's deserving. It was mostly it the background which I was sad about.
Also I wanted a bit more closure at the end. I really wanted to know what happened to Keeven and Shaan. Did they go to the island planet? Or did they die? Why did they hide their identity at the end?

Starts off strong, but Jereth is such a jarring and unlikeable character, and in some ways the story feels as though it bends around him.

Not my cup of tea, but I think other people will like it so gave it three stars. It just didn’t feel immersive and I was confused by the timeline.

Time is a weird soup! This book was so much fun! I really enjoyed the little twists and turns, as well as the overall arch. It’s cliche now, but still to me, saying it had Firefly vibes is a very good thing.
