This was a fun fantasy adventure. I think middle school boys and girls would enjoy it. Passing it on to my kid.

I liked the idea of this story, but it felt like a novel's length of material got cut down and smooshed into a novella. It gave things a very rushed feeling, although Chase managed to get some good character building in despite the rapid pace. The book isn't bad, but I think it deserved to be longer.
