This book felt very much like a conversation with Sissy. I've loved her since Carrie, and marvel at her ability to inhabit so many diverse characters despite having such a distinct look and type. I was happy to find that she seems to be a genuinely good person, living the life she chooses.

Readable and sincere account of a well grounded life. I enjoyed reading the stories of her early life in Texas and how she broke into show business. I most enjoyed the small glimpses she gave of her mother, who was apparently a wonderfully loving and giving person.

I read this book as part of the 2018 Book Riot Read Harder Challenge (celebrity memoir). Memoirs aren't usually my preferred genre of book, and I struggled to fill the slot. When I found this memoir, I thought to myself, well, Sissy Spacek seems rather nice, so this book should be reasonable enough, right?

Right hardly cuts it. This book was an utter delight to read—I devoured each page, enjoying the soft, soothing stories of family and adventure, tearing up more than a few times, and laughing out loud every few minutes. I am so pleased I decided to read this book. It will stick to the bones for quite some time.

Ordinary as an old bar of homemade soap

I need to get over feeling that 3 stars is bad. I liked this book, but in a quiet way, not a 4-star way. Anyway, Sissy Spacek seems pretty committed to being down-to-earth, and for some reading it impresses me when Hollywood actors choose family over living in LA. (Not that I have ever even been to LA myself...but I digress).
