This is the best science fiction book I’ve ever read in my life. I cannot believe I’m rating another book 5 stars in a row but this is just insane. I knew this book would go quickly but I read it all within 24 hours thanks to two 6 hour train rides 😭😭

If the page count wasn't so intimidating, I could see this having had a craze in my school. Or maybe I think spaceships are cooler than others do. The unique formatting feels like a cute gimmick until occasionally It's Not and it's very very intentional and really lends more impact to the story. My small gripes are generally just because it's YA and can be forgiven.
What omnipotent AI is gonna fall in love(?) with a random 17-year-old just because she can code? Who's still using emoticons when texting your savior while you hide from a pack of crazed murderers? Why are the characters putting more emphasis on losing the (ex-)boyfriend and not HER LITERAL ACTUAL MOM??

This almost got a perfect rating, but there was just a couple things that threw me off for that. Holy shit, what a good book.

Really enjoyed this one! Recommended by my book my chat, I am so glad I gave this one a shot! The audio was fantastic with the sound effects and full cast & reading along with the ebook helped me understand the format better! Told in transcripts, memos, chats, and more we follow Kady and Ezra  as they search for answers about the intergalactic war they found themselves in the middle of, while also fighting a unknown plague. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I can wait to dive into book 2!
