I read this book because its recommend by Azar Nafisi in The Republic of Imagination as the book people should read to get a better understanding of Iran. Aside from that, she recommends it as a book to be read by lovers of fiction. I wasn't disappointed in either capacity. This is a funny but tender account of a young boys first love and the family dynamics that surrounds him.

A wonderful read.

This is like the Persian version of A Confederacy of Dunces. A hilarious, sometimes-silly, often raunchy, satire that also ends on a surprisingly touching and sad note.
