Best of the Defoe novels. Always takes me forever to read, but it's important to my scholaring. The lack of clear timeline or chapters is a challenge, even for those of us who study this stuff.

Quite a hard read to get through, often hailed as the first novel so the form isn’t what we expect as modern readers. A very interesting exploration of the ideas of selfhood, redemption and sin. Lots of themes a bit jarring to modern readers.
