This was an August 2022 Hoopla Bonus Borrows recommendation.
Tom Sawyer meets Scooby Doo meets Goonies.
A fun little adventure of kids solving a mystery together to save the day against some evil adults.

I recently listened to this audiobook and oh my goodness it was ADORABLE. I loved the narrator, who did all the accents spot on and I loved the cute characters and the fun plot. I really love books that include codebreaking, so that aspect was also a hit for me.
The plot of this story wasn’t shockingly original, but I don’t think this is a problem. I would describe this as a comfort read: Instant lighthearted mood booster for any age, but especially for middle graders, since they are it’s target audience.

The description says it's written for 8 to 12 year olds but I think it skews more towards the younger end of that. I didn't particularly like this one as an adult reader. The plot was convoluted and simplistic at the same time. I didn't find it very exciting, but maybe because it's geared towards 8/9 year olds and I prefer juvenile fiction aimed at a slightly older audience.
On the plus side its relatively short and has some positive messages about friendship and judging people without knowing their story.

The charm of Narnia meets the adventure and excitement of 39 Clues in this delightful series about 3 British children. A must read for fans of Lemony Snicket and The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place.
Ciaran Saward's vivid characterization and narrations make the audiobook came alive. It's a wonderful addition to any family road trip.

A middle-grade treasure hunting book! I loved all the characters and even the bad guy, he was fun to read!
