so in love with these type of books!!
the single parent X single parent was perfect, and the relationships between ALL of them was beautiful!! the way the kids looked up to nathan
MARLEY IN GENERAL πŸ’• OLIVIA'S LIST, OLLIE AND THE CAMPING THING AND THEM THROWING TOGETHER AND THE PART AT THE END 😭 "I want Nate." AFTER SAVING HIM AND THE "Our son wants you." ARHHH.
and how they all looked at jenna like she was the centre of their universes πŸ’—
'Nathan had hope in us. He’d known we belonged together back when I could only wish for it. He loved me. He loved my kids. He never would’ve stopped trying to save Oliver."Β

My mood reading has been extremely picky, lately. Normally, this read absolutely would have been up my alley, but not today, I guess. I've been wanting to read from J. Daniels for a while and this was really solid writing. It'll get you there with the emotions while the MMC is still managing his grief.

I know some aren't a fan of kids written in, but I don't mind it at all. They were written really well.

I thought the story was a little bit too long after the 3rd act conflict, however, I'm glad all wasn't forgiven quickly.

Overall, I did enjoy this one. I'm surprised that I've yet to listen to a book narrated by Holly Warren and Jean-Paul Mordrake. I enjoyed listening to them bring these characters to life. Definitely look forward to listening to them again.

Cute book. Lovable characters. Though, I thought the FMC was a bit childish sometimes.

This book is one of my comfort books. I read them for the first time last year and immediately fell in love with Jenna and her children, and with Nathan and his little girl, Marley. They are so precious, they really melted my heart, then and now.

If you didn't know, I'm a fan of the single parent trope, and this book fulfilled what I most wanted from a book with this trope - a book where both characters are parents.

Jenna is a single mother of two eight-year-old twins, Olivia and Oliver. She is very strong, loving and understanding. She fell in love from the moment she saw Marley for the first time, and she didn't hesitate to help Nathan.

Nathan is a widowed father of a two-year-old daughter - Marley. He didn't really have a relationship with his daughter, because she was raised more by his parents, but when his father told him it was time to spend time with his daughter, he was lost.Β  He didn't know what she liked and what she didn't like, if she was allergic to something. Effectively, by the time Jenna entered his house, he was lost. I was totally surprised to see how quickly he adapted to life with Jenna and her children in his house, especially since he still feels guilty about his wife's death.

Oliver and Olivia liked Marley and Nathan from the first days. And after some time they already felt like a family. I will never forget Olivia's notebook and how Oliver reacted when he met Nathan's friend, it was hilarious.

If you like the single parent trope, you can trust J. Daniels. Also, the previous book has this trope too, and I highly recommend it.

I can't wait to see what the author has in store for us in her new book.
