Rudrappa offers nuanced analysis into transnational surrogacy markets and the experiences of surrogates in Bangalore. I read a lot of academic books, but I struggled  a bit with the prose and organization of this one. I often felt like additional integration of background information would have helped the reader and sometimes felt like the sections within chapters were disconnected.  I’m glad I read this, but don’t think I’ll be assigning it to my students.Â
