I couldn’t put it down!!! I honestly loved it and how it ended. Guess I’m reading the series after this one as well

I had very high expectations for this last book. Perhaps that's unfair, but it's true. They're all struggling hardcore with PTSD--especially John--and it makes it rough. That said, the upgrades a few of the Mogs get are really interesting, and that particular battle is really intense and well done. The battle to get to the big baddie is exciting and made really cool pictures in my head. They're so stinking powerful now, that battles they struggled with in the first book are practically afterthoughts now. The author hits this idea hard, so when they get in and face big baddie and he swats them like flies, it's a little frustrating. That battle is underwhelming. Plus, they beat him in a way I knew they would two books ago. That's not unusual for me, but I don't feel like it was pulled off well. Then the perspective jumps not only to someone else, but back in time a bit, which was disorienting, and to a different battle you didn't even know was happening. And then it's one year later so someone can remember what happened next and then check in with everyone else. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it, but the end was a little rough for me.

Bitter sweet ending, we all knew how it was going to end but I didn't see some of that coming. It's going to be weird not having any more books or novellas to look forward to.

I made it through this seven book series, without getting bored once.
Without questioning whether or not it could have been whittled down to a trilogy... or 5 books at most.
It was a seven book series that was fast paced and enjoyable throughout ALL seven books.
