This has some redeeming qualities but the romance part is pretty abysmal. Melody was cute and the interactions between her and Beat (Melody and Beat. Vomit.) were sweet. It probably would have been good if this were about them getting to know each other and falling in love. Instead we had a weird, super intense, mystical, insta-love connection that was eye-roll inducing and in no way made Beat’s possessive over-protectiveness less gross.    I almost DNFed multiple times, but the moms were amazing (not amazing moms, of course) and I was invested in the story outside of the couple. If all the time spent with Beat and Melody’s whining about their tragic lives were and contemplating how no one else could understand them were cut in favor of more screen time for Octavia, I would be on board.
