Oh my Lord...that cliff hanger. I dont know how anyone ever waits for an author to write the next book in a series. This book is the reason that I dont start a series until after its finished. Just so good. Its all I have to say. Just as good if not better than the first one.

It might have taken me two months (lol) but that's because I hated Liam for a little bit in the beginning so I had no motivation to read it. LET ME TELL YOU THOUGH I went back through book one and looked back at scenes with Liam and remembered why I loved him in book one and now BOOK TWO HAS RIPPED MY HEART OUT AND STOMPED ON IT AND NOW ITS A MILLION PIECES. the AMAZING second half of this book made up for the slow first half.

Never Fade felt like Bracken took the feedback about the Darkest Minds being a boring road trip and decided to turn the dial up to eleven. In Never Fade there was an action scene about every 50 pages or so, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing but it got tedious fast since there were never any negative consequences for our group until the very last action scene.

Judging from the title and the trajectory books take when someone has their memory swiped I knew Liam would remember Ruby, I was even looking forward to how it would play out. It was kind of a let down. Especially considering Ruby’s parents, people that loved her and had known her for 10 years before their memories were swiped, didn’t have any lingering feelings or thoughts on her…but a boy she was only around for a month recognized (or at least recognized his feelings for her even if he didn’t remember her) her right away because of the power of love?

The whole plot line with the flash drive felt pointless because of the ending. Vida and ruby deciding to still meet up even after realizing they weren’t speaking with cate anymore didn’t make much sense to me, neither did ruby not shooting Clancy, especially after she got the information out of him and they were back in HQ.

How exactly did they know where league HQ was to drop bombs on it but they never once went to raid/attack them?

I’ve also noticed between this book and the Darkest Minds that Bracken has this tendency to code all the evil males as rapists/sexual predators. Why? It’s especially weird because most of them are kids/teens. And I know a teenager can be a sexual predator and a rapist but it just felt VERY weird in this book. There was even a scene were Rob insinuated vida would be violated by guards if she got sent back to a camp!? Like why?

Also… how did Liam recover so fast from his pneumonia?!? When they found him he was described as being on his deathbed, then he gets one dose of medicine and is up and walking around the next day?

Despite me outgrowing the dystopian genre due to its predictability, I was thoroughly entertained by The Darkest Minds. We are introduced to an epic adventure following teenagers with unique abilities and their battle against the government, fighting for their freedom. After the huge cliffhanger of the first book, I was curious to know what would happen next. The sequel did not disappoint. In fact, I found to be even better than The Darkest Minds.
