Another great book by TJR! She never disappoints.
This book explores the true meaning of marriage and family. What do you do when you find yourself and your marriage in a rut?
It was so emotional. I loved the characters. I definitely found myself clinging to my husband just a little this week while I read it. I think this book definitely taught me a thing or two about marriage. What I do agree with - the key is to never give up.

This one got me close to tears, and gosh, this story is realistic to a point that it gives you a sort of pain that is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, if you get what I mean.

"Just because you can live without someone doesn't mean you want to."

Its funny that I'm neither married, nor I have a partner at the time I'm reading this, but TJR managed to make me feel so so much whilst reading this. Its often hard to see relationships falter when they're so much in love, especially after marriage. And even if I'm single at this time, I'm such a pessimist that I knew that marriage is not just all fun and games; its about compromises and responsibilities, and how often than not, you sacrifice part of yourself willingly to be with this other person.

TJR wrote this beautifully. Whilst its not perfect, I feel that the rawness and the imperfections of the book made the story more relatable. Her stories always feel so very real. Its real to a point that you feel that the characters are people that live close to you, or a sort of friend that is going through this painful experience.

Honestly, what Lauren and Ryan is doing for their marriage (they took a one year off each other), is very brave of them. Like I said, if it were me, I'd have given up (but this is coming from someone who is in a relationship), and yet, I understood . I understood by looking at my surroundings, and my parents and the ones that their marriage can't be saved. I understood that relationships need work and no humans are perfect, and it takes US vs THE WORLD rather than YOU and I VS WORLD . I feel that marriage is a team pact, where you are your own person but at the same time you work together to be against the problem. No marriage is perfect, and TJR wrote that in a way that these problems DO exist in real life; in which makes the stories that she wrote more meaningful.

And honestly, from the few books that I've read from her, TJR knows how to write stories on families. I love a family saga, and Lauren's family are one that I just have the most heart in. Goes to show at the end of the day, when nothing is working out for you, the people that love you most will always have your back. I love that Lauren went on a journey on finding herself again through the people that she loves, and through the people that loves her as well.

This book isn't a story of a woman mourning her marriage. Its a story of a woman who is brave enough to save her marriage, to find herself amidst being broken and above all, being able to love again when its right. This story shows that, even if two people who are loyal to one another and loves each other so much, this can happen to them . It can happen to anyone. And for what's worth, fight for what you think is the right thing for you. Fight for your happiness. And most of all, be happy doing it. Because at the end of the day, that's only what matters.

4.5🌟 for this one!

i want to give this book a 5 I really do cause its so different from what I've mostly read ig and I love it so so much. it's so good and id definitely recommend it cause I was hooked from the first chapter. it has important life lessons and just things everyone should know and I do expect a happily ever after for myself one day and I guess it helps to know that it won't go perfectly. bro another perfect Taylor read again I swear.

The book was everything! I give this 5 stars no questions asked. I have never read a book so quickly before. I loved everything about this. The characters, the story, the brutal honesty. Reading this after getting married myself only a few months ago, I was really able to put myself in Lauren’s shoes. How can I be better for my Ryan, while also staying true to myself? I think we all loose ourselves in relationships, at least a little bit. Likely for fear of loosing that other person. But how important it is to not find your “other half” but to find someone who blends with your whole self. This book really delved into how much staying true to yourself and sticking up for what you want makes you a better partner.

Taylor Jenkins Reid has yet again managed to create a literary masterpiece that will leave you both smiling and on the verge of tears.

After I do is one of the most achingly honest books I have had the pleasure of reading. It is a book that will stay with you for a long while even after you put it down.

This book highlights the hardships of marriage and not exactly knowing what you are meant to do in life. It creates a sense of understanding for those who have been in a similar situation as well as insight for those who have not. It lets people know that it’s real and its normal. It’s about never really knowing what the right answer is.

I said it once and I will say it a million times again, It is truly a literary masterpiece.

I love TJR, and the writing is good….. but I don’t agree with what the characters did and they should’ve just got a divorce
