What I was looking for: I watched the adaptation of the first book, read the second (and quite enjoyed it) so of course I wanted to know how Lily and Dash’s story continues

What I liked: It is not too often that you get a YA love story that focuses also on the continuation of the relationship – especially without dramatic rivals or similar but simply everyday life and growing up. I also liked the discussion a lot about the pros and cons of university and how sometimes, something you thought was right might not be and it is okay to change directions.

What I did not like: I found Lily’s dog business, dog whisperer magic (that whole sequence with the movie dog and its trainer? Waaaay to much), and influencer status too over the top. And I looked it up, Claridge’s in London costs now (November 2023) at least 1500 Pounds per night. She stayed at least two nights, last minute, on Christmas, supposedly all from the extra she made around the holidays from her dog walking business?! I remember her even saying it was mostly one client who was so happy with her work. Come on?! I cannot believe that she made 3 000 Pounds in tips just from one month. In general, I did not particularly like Lily in this book (maybe it would have been better if I had read it and not listened to the audiobook).

Narration: I think a lot of my dislike for this last novel stems from the voice actors. Dash’s voice actor Ryan Gesell was acceptable (even though he made all female voice to high and breathy for my taste) but unfortunately, I could not stand Tara Sands, who voiced Lily. She cannot do any accents and I would have preferred it if she would have just not tried. The English accents she did try sounded horribly (and they were often). And I did not like the way she voiced the male voices.

Conclusion: I might have liked it better if I had read it myself and not listened to the audiobook since I did not care of either of the voice actors. This is especially sad because some topics discussed in this volume were quite interesting and well handled. As it stands, this is my least favourite of the series by far.

If light and fluffy stories set at Christmas time are what you need, this may do the trick.

There's a bit more angst and uncertainty in this one than the previous two, but what can I say? Dash and Lily will always get me in the holiday spirit!

Some pacing issues, but sweet and charming nonetheless

Fun. Easy read. Read this in a day (the whole series in 3 days). Overall, I liked the series, but it was nothing special.

★★★½

This finale managed to wrap things up perfectly while remaining believable.

The only let-down for me was that I wish the friends were a bit more present. I missed the dynamics between the characters sometimes.

That being said, this really was the perfect ending for this series. It’s a YA romance, so don’t expect greatnesses or your mind to be blown, but it’s definitely a series worth reading. Specially if you’re craving something cosy during the holidays.
