An imperfect HEA, but sometimes that's all we get.

A fairly short story and a pacy read.
the story background is the introduction of a gay romance into an established tv series.
Aaron plays one of the couple, and is gay - his on screen lover is not. I liked that we did not go the obvious route of the two on screen guys getting involved off screen, and that his co star is fine with the plot development.
It really is about Aaron and Lucas, both coming to deal with some truths and accepting that perfect is not likely and agreeing on what is possible.
I enjoyed the start of the story, when Aaron wasn't sure of Lucas' feelings. Then he got a bit too eager puppy-ish for me. Whilst I didn't mind their version of HEA, what ever works for them, I didn't think Lucas was up for much compromise- though as they progress from the end of the story where a few people know whats what, I'm certain it'll all come out.
I did think it seemed to finish quite abruptly though.

Oh god.

One of the MCs is a classic horrible 70s harlequin alpha hole. He even groans grates and grinds and gets jealous of absolutely everybody. He acts all hostile because...he is so attracted to the other dude. And then he acts all hostile because he is so jealous. The guy is an idiot.

I was going to describe this as amateur hour m/m, except I've read quite a few fanfic m/ms which are really superior work so amateur hour doesn't capture the problem.

Maybe amateur hour poorly done m/f clumsily shoved into m/m. I looked at the sequel and it doesn't look any better.
