It's impossible not to compare this to Julian is a Mermaid. But this one was... okay. It's nice to see such understanding grandmas, and a wedding with two brides. More than anything, though, the illustrations are gorgeous- and a nice celebration of non-white characters.

Read as part of Julián Stories on Libro.FM

These are incredible, fantastic, gorgeous picture books and this little duo of stories in audiobook form are just as wonderful. Complete with fun background music that compliments the stories, this is a fantastic addition to picture book storytelling but just as great to listened to alone.

The narration is thoughtfully done, with pauses of anticipation keeping the story engaging. The young mischief in both stories, alongside the wholehearted love and acceptance throughout these books make them a must have for any young ones.

Loved Julian at the Wedding.   Beautiful brides and beautiful inclusivity message.  Love when adults accept people for who they are, starting as a child.

I was curious how a picture book would work as an audiobook. Now I know. Sweet story. 7 minutes with intro/outro music.

This book is so beautiful. It arrived today and we read it the minute we got it. It doesn’t have very many words but the illustrations are so gorgeous. My 3 year old loved it.

Jessica Love has brought such a special character to light in Julián. His story is a story of love, being yourself, having fun, happiness, and light. In Julián’s new story, we find him at a wedding where, like most kids, he and Marisol would rather go play than hang around with the adults. Only a small amount of text is needed because the joy of playing together radiates through the illustrations and is a feeling that every person has felt at one time or another while they play with no inhibitions when they probably should be somewhere else. Trent and I read this book together and when we were done, he said, “I want to play with them!” and that summarizes the feeling of this book.
