She isn’t communicative, but expects people to tell her things or else it’s “betrayal”. She refuses to listen when people do try to explain things and then is upset when she finds out about it later.
My biggest issue though, is how everyone treats Cal terribly for frankly the flimsiest reason I’ve ever read. It’s a lose lose situation for him - if he hadn’t left they’d have hated him for staying and not letting Lana do her own thing. The lack of empathy was truly disgusting and I think said A LOT about the authors perspective on addiction. It did not sit well with me and came across as a dangerously naive story to tell.
Wyatt in particular made me want to throw my e-reader at a wall. I’m supposed to root for the friendship of cop that intentionally incited violence? Fuck that. He abused his power and the story called it a joke.
I know it’s “just smut” but even that wasn’t good enough in this book to make up for how it handled addiction as a main element of the story.
The only reason I gave it 1 star is because of the updates to the previous books characters. I don’t think I’ll be reading any more books by this author.

I enjoyed the fact that Alana made Cal work for it when it came to getting her back. A lot of books would have the characters getting back together in the first few chapters, but they didn't in this book, and it worked out really well that they didn't.
But you can also tell Cal only ever had good intentions when it came to Alana. I really liked that Cal knew he wasn't any good for Alana until he got help, and knew he wasn't ready to get help so he did the best thing by Alana and left, even though it hurt both of them to do so.
I do think the way the town treated Cal was a bit over the top, but I know small towns are like that and they protect their people. And you can see that while Cal hated being treated that way by everyone he was once close to, he understood their reasons and set out to prove to everyone not just Alana that he wasn't out to hurt her again.
I also really loved the bond that Cal had with Alana's daughter Cami. It was really sweet to see them interact. And camo was just the sweetest little girl and so funny. The story wouldn't have been the same without Cami.
So overall I really enjoyed this final book in the trilogy and would absolutely recommend.

pros:
- cami existing and being a beautiful angel scammer. love that for her
- not many romance books do i like the mmc better than the fmc
- i like that we got resolution to all of the boys’ inheritance
cons:
- catcher? in the rye? 🙁
- predictable plot with the house… why did it take us 600 pages! the miscommunication was so silly!
- being in the town in cal’s perspective was so miserable. pro for making me understand why he drinks, con for pages and pages of lame
- perhaps a few more youtube videos of how ADHD in adults presents would be beneficial for lauren asher
- smut was a little boring for me :(
- thank god those children are billionaires i was just worried they’d have a billionaire father
- i feel like we never got any resolution with alana’s sister and even though that may be realistic i’d at least like to know her thoughts about it
