This book follows after the first one. This story wasn’t bad and it wasn’t good. It’s as though a different author wrote this book compared to the first one. The pacing was very fast and the plot was very messy. I was confused about what was even happening in this book as there were more subplots than a main plot. I couldn’t grasp the main message behind this book as it didn’t feel like a romance or a character development story. There weren’t good conflicts and the prologue didn’t make sense for this book. This book is told from both Kael and Karina’s perspectives.

Karina is an okay character but I wasn’t understanding her character in this book. I felt she didn’t have much of a story described or a purpose. She was bland compared to the 1st book. Kael is still a mystery and his pov didn’t help to find out more about him. I honestly don’t remember his pov because his story felt nonexistent. Karina’s roommate had more page time in this book than anything and I felt that the story involved around her which didn’t make sense. The romance was bland and nonexistent and for a romance book that was the main thing needed for the story. Karina and Kael both barely saw each other and somehow in the last chapters, they ended up together with no chemistry build-up for anything.

The ending was whatever and I’m guessing someone is about to end up dead in the third book. I’m not exactly sure if I will be reading the last book as I’m not seeing much of development in the series. I have loved Todd’s After series which I think is fun and well-developed but this series is not so much. The romance is just very much lacking which is the main part of this book. I hope to see more from this author.

The military romance aspect is what drew me to this book. I’m a veteran’s wife and loved reading all the details of on post, active duty life. There were so many details that Todd added to the story that made it so relatable and brought back good memories for me, but my goodness were there details, way too many. It felt like every move the characters made was detailed and not in an interesting way, but more like a way to fill the pages. It took a long time to get into it and get any kind of worthy action between the characters. I really liked both main characters though so I read on to figure out what would happen only to be left with a major cliffhanger at the end that should’ve been the end of a chapter, not of the whole entire book! As much as I want to know what happens with Kael and Karina, I’m not sure I’m up for another couple hundred pages of this

It was terribly written. The conflicts gave me a headache and everything was so dramatic for no reason

Still mad that i bought the first two books of the stars series only for the author to say that she was going to start the series again. Needless to say I got this in ebook this time because I didn't want to buy it again.
I actually like the main characters, Karina and Kael, and their relationship.
Felt like the story went very slowly and in the end felt that there is still so much story left, so many things to uncover and there is only one book left, i dont know how the author is going to put to much story in one book, she could have expanded more in this one.
The cliffhanger in the end irritated me because I already knew it was gonna happen and i wanted to read about it, now i have to wait for the next book to be written.
