D. A. Y. M. N!

I can't believe it, even though both my major theories were right!

I need the next book yesterday. Sadly I have to wait, for now. *whispers "soon"*

The situation gets darker, and more sinister, as the whole family of dragons comes to roost. Spirits are on the offensive, and humans also struggle for power. Still very fun, but unecessarily ends on a cliffhanger.

This book, similar to the previous one, started out with a number of moments that almost made me bail. It just looked like it would become a completely different and very uninteresting story, and I wasn't sure I wanted to bother.

Fairly quickly however the story transformed in ways that really brought the fun back and then some. The rest of the book continued to get much better and more interesting all the way through to a fairly strong finish. So for any who are debating continuing based on this or the previous book being weaker, it's worth holding on longer after all!

To be honest the series started out with dragons being a flat lot personality wise. Either there was Julius the 'can't harm a fly' person or there was the group of Bethesda (along with all other dragons) of 'don't care if everyone suffer, as long as it serves my purpose' dragons.

But in book 2 and especially now in No Good Dragon Goes Unpunished the spectrum has changed. You get a look into how some of the oldest children of Bethesda whom seemed purely draconian from the start. But in reality suffered just as much under Bethesda as Julius has, which have tempered them and gives their personalities depth (which some of the younger dragons of lack) this makes for a much more interesting read.

As for Marci, she who seems to be the diametrically opposite of Julius is some ways, but they still fit so well together. She turns more and more badass as the story goes on, but there are some tension in the relationship between them with Ghost in the picture, and you can't really anticipate how it is going to end.

The author manage to show the grey areas of life, that not all is black and white. She manage to make you ask yourself, what is the right answer.
You realise that sometimes there is not always a correct answer, you just have to see things through and trust in yourself, as Bob works tirelessly to make Julius realise again and again.

Not only this wonderful character evolution through the series but also the uniqueness of the story itself makes this a very worthwhile read.

I spoiled the ending for myself so I knew what would happen but that does not mean that I did not enjoy it.

Julius is now in a position of power and everything is not going well. The family that he fought so hard to ensure is free from their mother's grip, is not happy to go along with his niceness. In fact they see that as a weakness. Things take a turn for the worse when his life is threatened and the UN wants Marci for something. He barely has time to spend with her and things with all the dragon politics going on and Amelia is being reckless with her life.

The world is bigger than anything I imagined it would be and the more I learn the more I am left wondering how someone can create something so big. I am impressed. Having read the next book after writing this review, I hated to see it coming to an end the way it did but I understood.

Julius was as clever as he has been previously. I also liked seeing how he became assertive with time. It is great that he has grown away from hiding behind his feathers and taken the lead.

Chelsea! The politics and family drama at the center of this book are wonderfully frustrating. Learning Chelsea's motivations has made this series so much better. I loved that with so many members of the Heartstriker clan we still get good descriptions and personalities for many of the dragons.
Above all, the thing that made this book and this series a stand out is the multiple POVs and plot lines we are following throughout the story. While each POV is interwoven we get to see a whole other side to the chaos. Marci and the UN/Mages, Amelia, Bob the seer and mastermind, F-clutch, and for Julius the chaos of trying to restructure a clan/change the violence of dragon politics while still exploring a relationship with Marci.
If you're on book 3 of this series I definitely recommend you keep going!

Third in the series. This one read a lot slower, with more history and court intrigues, and a lot of explanation about what was going on. Less action.

While I enjoyed it, it was the slowest-going of the three for me. Still think the writer is incredibly creative and I wish I had her imagination! And ability to write!
