2nd in the very enjoyable series about homeless veteran Jimmy Mullen who is drawn into investigating crimes which often puts himself , his family and friends at risk.
Here he is drawn to help his young friend Deano whose brother has disappeared at the same time as several runaways are dying in mysterious drug related incidents.
Had me turning the pages right to the last page.

I loved The Man on the Street and I loved this second novel in this series.
It’s gritty, fast paced and gripping.
A solid and well written novel that makes share Jimmy’s experiences and the life of homeless people.
It’s fuul of twists and turns and it kept me hooked till the end.
Strongly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this arc, all opinions are mine

Another cracking read. A trio of protagonists that society normally look down on.

Jimmy, Gadge and Deano are screaming out to be transferred from the page to the tv screens with the anti heroes becoming the heroes. Someone should make this happen.

I believe a 3rd book is on the way. I’ll be purchasing that as soon as I get the nod.

Deano’s long lost brother became mixed up with teenagers selling bad drugs and died.

Jimmy Mullen tries to help his friend find out what happened.

The second in this series I’ve read. Loved them both. Great characters: Deano much more central this time.  Hard to spot where the twists and turns are going to come. Roll on Jimmy Mullen 3

#2 in the Jimmy Mullen series
My first book by this author. It reads well as a stand a lone
Set in Newcastle, Jimmy is a homeless PTSD suffering veteran who is a sleuth come vigilante.
This time it involves deaths of a bunch of runaway teenagers thought to be due to a rogue batch of spice, that isn’t been investigated by the police.
He has a companion called Dog, and a budding romance with Julie.
The book contains elements of both humour and sadness.
I really like Jimmy and his loyalty to his friends, and his unusual friendship with a policeman which was forged in book #1.
I found Jimmy’s character to be likeable, he is very loyal to his friend Deano. He also has dogged determination. I found myself rooting for Jimmy throughout the book.
It gives a realistic insight into the lives and struggles of the homeless, and the constant threat of violence that they face. The book is gritty but not gory, and has an earthy feel that fits well with this street crime fighter.
The pace I found to move between medium and slow, the character engagement kept my attention.
It’s different, and very engaging. I recommend this book, and I’ll be catching up with man on the street.

One Way Street by Trevor Wood is a second book in the Jimmy Mullen series. The main character is a homeless man who gets involved in chain of events with murdered kids and drug gangs.

The world in the book is dirty. You can almost feel it. I can’t imagine how it is to be homeless but when I read Trevor’s books I’m pretty close to that.

I’m glad to see that Jimmy takes seriously his therapy in the support group, that he tries to get better, his relationship with his daughter is quite strong and that he even found a girlfriend. He has a place to stay and he’s not sleeping on the streets anymore. If only a new drug Spice hasn’t shown up, he might have had a pretty nice life.

As always Jimmy can’t stop himself from solving a mystery and with Deano, Gadge (and of course Dog) they try to find people responsible for several deaths caused by a dodgy drug.

I like seeing how authors become better with every book, I liked the first story but this one is proper 5 stars for me. I hope that there are more books to come in the series because I’d love to read them!
