3.5 This is a thriller and typical of what we expect from Ken Follet.

It isn't great writing as this example demonstrates:

“A woman’s heart can be an unexploded bomb, she thought. Handle me delicately Gus so that I don’t detonate. If you just bring together the wrong wires, I could blow up my family, my career and yours."

Pretty soap oper-y...

But if you can ignore the horrible dialogue, suspend belief on what is going on in the book, you can probably get some enjoyment as a thriller.

Thanks to PRHAudio for this complimentary audiobook! This is my first time reading Follett. Damn. This was a lot. Truly scary. Not sure what genre this falls under but Horror might be possible. This book feels like such a close reality of war between us China and Korea that it keeps you uncomfortable the whole time. Couldn't find a reason to not give this book a 5 star review
