Okay, I ADORE Summer, and the subplots in this one were *chef's kiss*. Fitzy is one of my favourite men from these series only second to Garrett Graham. We love the artsy dork types who love long winded books and video games. Summer's passion and love of her family really shined through the pages. While I don't think they had the best chemistry out of everyone in the series, they will forever be a golden couple. *sigh*

This book reminded me why I love Elle Kennedy's writing. It was fun and sweet with a little bit of spice and so easy to read. I love Fitz, he was the perfect mix of geek and jock and I loved that despite being a star ice hockey player he hated the limelight. Summer was another great character to follow as she very much was a character that on the outside looked like she had everything but on the inside had a lot of insecurities because of her learning difficulties. Together, they really balanced each other out. I do think the Hunter love triangle thing was kind of unnecessary as you knew that Hunter was never really and option. The adults were the worst in this book. The billionaire and Summer's advisor/the assistant dean had such big chips on their shoulders from their past that they acted like petulant children. The way they treated Summer and Fitz (the billionaire towards Fitz) was ridiculous and just made me want to shout at them to grow up. Professor Laurie was disgusting and just gave me the creeps all the way through and the fact that he was in a position he was in was awful, I wish I could have seen him truly get what was coming to him at the end because I would love to see him put in his place. Overall. I am glad to get back to the Briar campus because it is just a fun and easy read.

I had high hopes for this book, both in off campus and the legacy both Fitz and Summer seemed like such interesting characters. I wanted this new series to blow me away and it just didn't. Don't get it confused though it was incredible readable I read it in two sittings and it did have me laughing out loud but this book is the slowest of slow burns i've ever read. Maybe it's because i've come straight out of the off campus series which are polar opposites, it was only about 70% in that the ball actually got rolling with this book. The relationship was not the centre of this book and that kind of disappoints, it seemed like EK was setting up the rest of the series by introducing side character and plots which didn't move the story over. I'm over the whole avoidance of feelings culture and to be honest despite how the last 30% of the book ended up playing out, Fitz was actually kind of a dick. I was surprised at how Fitz was written in the book considering in off campus he was intriguing and seemed like a decent guy, I don't know if this necessarily did him justice. I do appreciate how he defended Summer though, it was the least he could do after he was so rude. Maybe it is Fitz constant back and fourth with his emotions that kept readers engaged, it is weirdly refreshing. I wanted to scream at him myself specifically the way it went down with Hunter, Fitz 'issues' affected a decent friendship and I found that sad.
I liked summer a lot. Especially her 'Selena Gomez' inner monologue. This, along with her constant pop culture references made her really fun to read about. I think the struggle with her learning disability was written really well and does accurately show how difficult academia can be at times (I found this to be important since the characters from off campus all appeared to breeze through college). The whole issue with her teacher, whilst incredible important surrounding the MeToo movement, didn't seem to progress the story at all. The fact that one phone call sorted it all out was contradicting to how Summer expressed throughout the whole book that she was more than just a rich girl with connections. I get that in this instance they were for the greater good, I'm not too sure how well it accurately represents what was happening in the world at the time. Most people don't get the opportunity she had to resolve it. However I adored the friendship stricken up between Summer and Brenna, Summer is such a girls girl and I imagine her to be an incredible friend, it's gonna be interesting to see how this is written into the rest of the books.
The cameos from the boys we already love were absolutely perfect. I always thought tucker was forgotten about and shown the least attention in off campus, so it was nice for his cameo to be substantial.
However did expect a more heated book like the others and it fell short in that respect so bare in mind. I have a feeling the rest of the series is going to be better but summer and fitzy have suffered as a result. it was deffo a book which is setting up for the rest.
