So the fantasy part is kinda interesting to follow and unravel, but the author just slowly gets too old for the characters she writes… the teens feel so unauthentic and use weird vocabulary that can be described and „teenager language adjacent“ at best… I cringed a lot.
Still, if you’re able to ignore some of the unfortunate wording and weird way of talking, the premise and world Kerstin Gier builds is very cool and I’m probably gonna grab the second book too when it comes out.
