After loving An Anonymous Girl, I knew I wanted to read more from this duo! I enjoyed the switching POVs, mainly between Shay and Cassandra/Jane! We also get flashes from other side characters both past and present.

I loved the character developments and complexities, with each POV they have distinctive voices from one another.
SpoilerWithout being too spoiler-y, it was so interesting to see Cassandra and Jane going from these protectors/advocates to becoming exactly the people they fight against. It was truly stunning and compelling to see them do a 180, and showing a sort of exploration of people who go so far to achieve something no matter the cost that they in turn become the very thing they hate.

MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR!! The twist after twist after twist was so well executed, I never saw it coming and I will forever bow down to Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen đŸ˜± I will be reading everything they write because they’re one of the few thriller authors that I can never predict what will happen next!

To sum up the novel: I support women’s rights, and more importantly I support women’s wrongs 😅

Hendricks and Pekkanen’s writing flows pretty well but it’s exhausting to be stuck in the perspectives of someone so obnoxiously naïve (dumb), and another whose only trait is being manipulative.

also don’t feel bad for that mf

I always enjoy books from this duo, but I never rate them highly. A lot of characters felt disposable  in this book, probably because they were sort of treated like that by some of the main characters. These same supporting characters were a little flat/one note. The short flashbacks to capture their raisin d’ĂȘtre very much felt like ones you’d see on TV. But unfortunately, without the constant visual reminder of the screen, I often found myself asking who was who. So while the plot is character driven, most of the characters lack dimensionality so I found myself caring little about the outcome.

You are Not Alone by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen was a grippy, fast-paced read.  I have been on a thriller streak lately and looking for plotlines that hold a tense atmosphere – this book did the trick.

I would recommend going into this knowing as little as possible.  The story centers on a woman, Shay, who is befriended by two sisters who have the life Shay desires.  They become quick friends and it’s easy for Shay to say “yes” to their advice and help.  When things begin to seem a little off and Shay starts to pay closer attention, the suspense takes off.

I listened on audio and would recommend that format.  The twists were not impossible to see coming, but they weren’t crystal clear either and I had fun trying to piece it all together.
