Now this was a good read! Even though I’ve seen the tv show I was still captivated throughout this book, turning the pages so fast to see what happened next even though I already knew!

Wow wow wow. Somehow both chillingly tense and darkly hilarious, Big Little Lies is DEFINITELY worth the hype.

An excellent book. Starts off incredibly slow, but continues to build and build. I enjoyed how each chapter was an individual's point of view at that moment as it builds to trivia night. One also doesn't know what happened until the end, which was also fun. Great and funny writing. It was fun to see how each woman seemed to have it together, but in home life, in their pasts, and internally each was dealing with a giant weight. Great read.

I loved the show and I can honestly say I think the book is better!! The adaptation follows the book plot beat for beat to an impressive degree
most significant differences I noticed:
Madeline doesn’t tell Jane she looked up Saxon Banks, and she doesn’t go on her road trip to find him.. I preferred the books decision, where it is revealed that Jane picked Pirriwee specifically for Perry, and I can tell that plot point evolved into Jane’s search for Saxon in the show
Bonnie essentially immediately confesses after the night. In the show, they keep it a secret and drag the confession throughout all of S2. I don’t think the show ever even tells you what the consequences are, which in a way I do prefer to how little the investigation results in anything
And then another thing I liked better in the book — Ed and Nathan are there when Perry dies. I think this adds a nice layer to the way the women immediately protect Bonnie.

Great read. Thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters. Kept me intrigued until the end. Story has lots of little details and intrigue and it’s all realistic enough to have empathy with/for each character. I can see why it was made into a tv series, which I intend to watch eventually.
