Wow, wow, wow. The prose in this book is beyond anything I have ever read. I felt every emotion Leo was feeling throughout the entire book. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in the post WWII Soviet labor camps.

Lyrical and impressionistic, but very effective in conveying the daily horror of life in a Soviet labor camp after WWII. Perhaps this sort of poetic treatment is the only way to tell a story like this,

Olipas kaunista kieltä ja hieno kuvaus elämästä työleirillä. Ei kuitenkaan liian taiteellinen, hyvin tässä pysyi mukana. Ei mikään loputon kärsimyksen kuvaus myöskään, elämä työleirillä on kuitenkin erilaista kuin vaikkapa keskitysleirillä. Loppua kohden jopa helpottaa hieman, ja sitten on edessä kotiinpaluu, joka sekään ei ole ihan helppo tai itsestäänselvä juttu.

Kaunis kirja kiinnostavasta aiheesta.

Despite the seriousness of the subject, I did not manage to imagine the content of this story chopped into naively childish sparks to approach an existential experience that one can hardly imagine unitary.
