I really enjoyed the magic system and Shai as a main character. As a novella it's also a tight, quick story, and incredibly short for a Sanderson read, so it felt good to take down one of his books so quickly.

I loved the premise of the book and the execution. I wish I had more of this world but at the same time the story seems better in its short form. I really enjoyed learning about the inspiration for the book from the afterword, it's such a clever reimagining of the real phenomenon.

I know, it is such a "new concept" to be commenting on Sanderson's master world building. However, in this instance, it truly is fantastic what world this man can create to engage the reader in as little as 120 pages. The characters were semi-complex and interesting. The plot was gripping and very easy to digest, so I would highly recommend, especially if this is your first time reading a Brando Sando book.

This whole idea is so brilliant. Brandon Sanderson always blows my mind. I really enjoyed the main character Shai and Gaotona too. The whole dialogue about art and what is a masterpiece and who owns it was very thought provoking. A fun quick read.
