A very scary Christmas to you! Half told in diary entries from the past and half told in the present time, this novella packs a punch. It includes everyone’s favorite little nugget of holiday cheer: murder!!! Think twice before you make a bad decision. It just might haunt you for the rest of your life.

Side note: I loved Swanson’s note regarding why he wrote The Christmas Guest. I’d love for him to release more of these one-sit reads. It’s impressive I was able to get to know his characters so well in under 100 pages, and he gave this reader a nice twist, too.

Where is the mystery? This is maybe a thriller or horror, but there’s absolutely nothing mysterious about it. The only mystery to be found is why did I give Peter Swanson another chance against my better judgment?

I really enjoyed this quick read and would definitely recommend picking up a copy closer to Christmas. This novella is broken into two parts. It's partially told through the POV of one character through diary entries and partially through the present-day musings of another individual. Perfectly dark and chilling with the right amount of Yultide trimmings.

Love the dedication page as well.
