As much as I love the Library of Doom series, I was a bit reluctant about his title. Fortunately, it was charming and creepy enough to change my mind. An app that finds spooky stories on the internet also seems to summons swarms of black birds. If they find you, you disappear! The app made me think of things like Creepy Pasta that have gotten popular recently. I could see something like that turning on its young audience! The text and pictures really drive the story and will hook in reluctant readers. It is a bit creepy, so sensitive youngins might want to steer clear. There are writing prompts and questions in the back which would make it a great book club selection. Love this series!
