It was very enjoyable to read a female detective based in Sydney, Australia in a sort of contemporaryish setting (in what is recognisable to me as the "real world"-am I showing my age?). She spent a lot of useless time doing things like not looking after herself properly and talking to her cat and mooning over an absent lover nevertheless I liked Anna Southwood and her story.

The puzzle was OK, I have read better, I have read worse. I think it was the character and setting that I really enjoyed. Anna is independent, intelligent, brave, somewhat moody, angry at herself for being moody and driven but in a flawed sometimes half-arsed sort of a way. She's relateable.

I will read more of these if I can.
