I thought the concept of the book was really cute, but the actual story wasn’t my cup of tea, unfortunately.

This is a cutesy spicy romance with a touch of heartbroken, vengeful hexing 😏 Perfect for the Halloween season as it is set right before and on Halloween. Beware of broken-down cars, crumbling statues, hot feelings, enchanted skulls, black cats, poisoned drinks, ghosts, and family secrets! I had so much fun listening to this and have added it to my "Want to own" list. I'll probably get around to listening to "The Kiss Curse" which is book 2, which revolves around Vivien's cousin, Gwyn. My ratings for spice, romance, and mystery are 🌶️🌶️🌶️/💖💖/🔎🔎

Cute, entertaining plot, and sweet without being too cheesy

A solid read for the witchy season. I've seen it around a lot and wondered if it was any good, so I'm happy to report that it very much scratches the itch.

Vivi and Rhys make a cute couple, and their gradual acceptance of the renewed attraction is reasonably portrayed. There's definite yearning, but not very angsty because they give in to temptation without a huge amount of internal conflict.

The only bit of angst comes from their challenges with accepting that they're in love with each other and they should just come out with it.

But as I say, solid read and an enjoyable story for fans of Sarah Adler's Happy Medium & Sangu Mandanna's The Secret Society of Irregular Witches.

enjoyed the overall book, mid book a handful of chapters got lost in smut and didn’t do much for the plot development (or character development for that matter). I don’t mind smut (I will say it was well written smut) but it was too back to back to back to sustain any plot development for me. The pace was nice until that point then the end felt a little rushed. But that aside a fun read.
