Nope, 233 pages and I still had no idea wth was going on or why? Meanwhile this girl is being used and abused on almost every page. I also don’t remember seeing a trigger warning list or page. Though I’ve permanently deleted the book off my library so I can’t go back to check, so I could be wrong. Needless to say, this is not for me.

I wish people who DNF'd this book would keep reading! I will admit, at first I was a little skeptical because Dom is a little abusive. BUT, he's also kinda not because he stops as soon as she displays any sign of actually being too hurt! This is a dark book, that is full of drama and action! It does end on a cliff hanger so be prepared to run to the next book.

I'm usually all for dark mafia romances but this was just not for me. The amount of times he degrades and abuse her and she still got the hots for him... like REALLY?! Girl, what's wrong with you?
The story was unbelievable and there wasn't enough progress in the storyline for my taste. I honestly expected more. There was so much potential, instead it was the same thing over and over again. Overall, disappointing.

There's a thing about Lana's heroes... They're not always heroes. I'd say this is one of the darkest she's ever written, rivaling with Club XXX. At first sight, you may hate Domino, the things he does to get what he wants are not for the weak of stomach.

I have a thing for Lana's heroines too, because they don't always seem like what they are. With Ada it was no different: used by her father and psychologically abused, never had a safe space, someone to count on. Years of abuse show their scars, be it physical or not. Despite all of it, she knows what she's been through, knows she was just a piece of chess in a game her father made her play. She's no dumb blond. Seeing her using the tools that were always a necessity back then to her own benefit (finally!) was really nice.

This book is not really a romance, I'd say, maybe in the books to come we can see it developing between the main characters. This book is about understanding their past and how they are going to deal with the present. Overall, it was a nice intro to Domino and Ada-Maria's history.

Lana's books are not for everyone and I get it. I'm just glad they are for me and I can keep on following her work!
