Super cozy but I was distracted by the strange comments about hard work equating with life happiness

Cute, fun story! Not thrilled with the Christianity bashing tho.

The Christmas Bookshop was exactly what I expected…a very light, funny read with caricature characters that were so ridiculous they made me laugh. I loved the descriptions of Edinburgh and the bookshop makeover. I wish more time had been spent on the bookshop owner Mr McCredie and less time on the nanny Skylar and self-help guru Blair. The story and character interactions were so dumb yet entertaining. The love triangle and the main character Carmen’s two love interests were just weird. The only question is when Hallmark will turn this into a movie.

I listened to this audiobook and perhaps if I had read it instead, I would have enjoyed it? I was not feeling this one and found the main character to be irritating, along with her sister and family. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just did not enjoy this one and could not wait for it to end so I could move on.

Loved the depictions of Edinburgh but the plot and characters fell flat (the love interest was particularly blah).

The most egregious thing about this book is its sloppy writing—every chapter is rife with bizarre dialogue and serious grammatical issues. The prose left me so confused, I would read a passage multiple times. A good editor ought to have swooped in to clean up the many dangling participles and ambiguous phrases.

Love the cover, love the promise of a seasonal bookish read, but this is not one I would necessarily recommend.

Nothing like a Sunday morning spent reading with tears streaming. I came to love all of the characters in this book. Really put me into the Christmas spirit
