This is an incredibly important book, and I believe something more people should read. I was familiar with Auschwitz and other Holocaust crimes, specifically those committed against Jews. Yet this account is eye opening, casting a Light on women who were victims, Jewish and not Jewish. It was inspiring and powerful. It was eye opening and I am better for reading it.

Sarah Helm does a good job breaking up the story, by keeping chapters short and broken up into subjects. I appreciated the small bites she provided, while also making sure that she balances atrocities with stories of human resilience and female strength.

I highly recommend this book, its dense but readable and it's subject is so important as it gives voices to marginalized victims and survivors in the greater Holocaust narrative.

Wonderfully written and compelling. I now want to know more about women like Wanda Hjort, Grete Buber-Neumann, Yevgenia Klemm and Milena Jesenka, just to name a few.
