i feel like everyone else read the shadowhunters series when they were teenagers and i'm just now catching up but omg what the hell was that ending. also, i hated the way that clary led simon on for the entirety of this book like we get that you like your brother and have very weird incestuous feelings for him but was it really worth it at the expense of simon's feelings. i really didn't like the way how clary was portrayed as reckless in this book but she's a teenager who feels overwhelmed by everything that happened to her so i get it. also, does the ending now mean that jocelyn is going to wake up in the third book, i hope so. also, i'm holding out hope for clary's character development because she needs it baddd both as a shadowhunter and as a regular human being.

Love reading the whole series again, and again and again. I have forgotten how many times I've read this. I read it at home as an ebook and audiobook at work. I just can't get enough of the world Cassandra Clare has created. I love Twilight but this is sooo much better.

Meh. The world concept is interesting, and there are some moments that I love with a passion.
The writing style is **o k a y**, but there are certain parts where the writing itself is just b a d. Like how characters will randomly start talking IN ALL CAPS WHEN THEY ARE TALKING SLIGHTLY LOUDER THAN NORMAL.
And the whole Clary+Jace romance?
