What a great way to read The Odyssey! This is gorgeously illustrated and abridged for children. I really enjoyed it.

Adaptation of The Odyssey for children that is beautifully illustration. The problem I had (until Odysseus returns to Ithaca) is each story seemed too short and choppy. Maybe children won't ask too many why questions and maybe the original text doesn't explain motivations or why events unfold as they do. Nice afterward tells about the questionable origin and authorship of The Odyssey.

The entire book was so immersive and fast paced that I could not get enough of it. It really made me want to pick up the actual epic.

Perfect read-aloud for my 8yo who wanted "just a few more pages please!" every time we had to stop reading. She liked both the story and the illustrations. Posiedon's hair was of particular, ongoing interest. Also, she insists we're naming our next dog Charybdis.
I think this version does a nice job capturing the spirit of the full text in a way that's accessible and appealing to a young audience.
