It's a great first book for a series and I'm very excited to continue it. Yes some of the words are a bit outdated but it's easier to read knowing the author is apologetic and actively doing stuff to change it. But it's good had some very funny moments and somehow felt nostalgic even tho I've never read it before.

 It's my first time reading the series and I really liked book one. I remember watching the movie when I was younger, so the plot wasn't new to me but reading the book was also very enjoyable.  I always love having elements of Greek mythology in the modern world and I think Rick Riordan did an amazing job in weaving together the ancient myths and real world. The series is listed as middle-grade so the story was very easy to follow. I found some moments a little bit to cruel for the recommended age but I didn't mind and I'm sure I would have loved those books as a kid! 
I'm super excited to continue this series and I'm looking forward to the new Disney+ series now!

I'm reading through this series for the first time and I'm already loving it! There's a reason these books get so much hype, so I'm glad I finally get to be a part of it. This particular book was a solid and fun first installment. Excited to dive into the rest of the series!
