For today's standard this book is very old-fashioned, sexist and racist mostly. Although sometimes I can see through that, this time the story was not that interesting and for a childrens story this should be buried mostly.

I will give that the character of the endless child-boy Peter Pan is quite good and a bit tragic.

I loved it more than I thought I would. It was creepier and stranger than I expected it to be. Disney has a history of changing dark stories into the happy fairy tales we know. And, of course, I knew this before I started reading Peter Pan but the story was pretty much the same. It was Peter’s way of treating the Lost Boys that was a little scary.

Another surprising part of this book was the role of mothers in it and the love they have for their children. Maybe I’ve just forgotten about that part in the movie but Peter takes Wendy to Neverland to be a mother for him and the Lost Boys. I thought that was a little strange at first but it makes sense when you find out more about the author, J.M. Barrie, who watched his mother grieve for his dead younger brother.

I think this is my favourite classic so far (although, I haven't read many classics yet). I quite enjoyed the book, but I also was confused at many times. Not sure if it just was my lack of sleep, but I also kind of had the feeling this book was meant to confused people? Things in the book didn't always make sense and in some ways it wouldn't have surprised me if the author was stoned while writing it, but again, I think that's kind of the purpose on it. Anyway, I think this is quite an enjoyable book and I'd also recommend it to people who normally don't like classic.

Ihana, ihana Peter Pan.
