Such great writing and imaginative setting. I read this right after I read a novel set in the pandemic and felt that they were in conversation in a way i didn’t expect (even though this was published in 2020 and i imagine written primarily before covid) - lots of feelings of having your world shrink and making the most of it the best you can, seeing details and appreciating things you might have dismissed before.

What a creepy little labyrinth Clarke has woven! Extremely annoying for the first ten percent or so, then she somehow sucks you into the story and refuses to let you stop reading until you've finished it.

I liked this book a lot. I thought the ending could have been pretty disappointing but I really liked the way it was wrapped up. The culty stuff in the middle almost turned me off but I’m glad I finished it.
