I loved the exploration of the House and it's beauty, and Clarke's skillful and wonderful writing that brings it to life.  I've dreamed of these halls several times while reading the book.  The story is captivating and heart-punching in unexpected ways. I devoured this novel, and enjoyed it thoroughly. One of the few books I'll probably want to re-read.

The adjectives that come to mind when I reflect on this book are "intricate", "obsessive" and "labyrinthian". The story does not unfold, it unravels. The characters to do not so much develop as they rearticulate. If you approach this book with curiosity and a beginner's mind, the result is dazzling.

After reading six Harry Potter books, this was a welcome serious reprieve. All this dude wants to do is chill in the backrooms but others have different plans. The titular character is perhaps one of the most charming and lovable characters I have ever read. Solid 5 stars and one of the best books I’ve read all year.

It wasn't bad per se, but... it gave me nothing? Very philosophical sure, but, nothing that really caught my interest at all. The climax was interesting and there were glimpses of something good in between, but... not enough to be anything substantial for me.
