Great inside look! But I must say that there is an upsetting lack of Batgirls (and Batboys)!

Aside from showcasing the gorgeous art work of the Bombshells line of statues and comics, this book walks the reader through the complete story of the Bombshells line from inspiration to conception and finally to product development and publishing. DC executives, artist Ant Lucia, sculptor Tim Miller, and series writer Marguerite Bennett all share their unique perspectives. The views these individuals share are informative while remaining interesting. As the reader looks at the art and reads the contributors' words, it quickly becomes clear the passion and enthusiasm that went into creating the Bombshells universe.

Lucia's art is very visually appealing and on each page a drawing is sure to immediately catch the reader's eye. Though inspired by the WWII era and drawn in the pin-up style, Lucia inserts modern elements into his designs. This adds a new layer to the already detailed designs. I really enjoyed examining each drawing to make sure I caught all the little details in each piece. I was also very moved by Bennett's contribution at the beginning of the covers section of this book.

The Art of DC Comics Bombshells would make a great gift for fans of pin-up art, superheroes, or strong women. It's both a quick read and a book you'll want to return to multiple times. Even if you never read the Bombshells comics, you will be able to find something to enjoy about this book. For those who have read the comics, this book provides a new insight into the creative processes behind the DC Bombshells.
