A cute story meant for middle grade age. I actually like that they have a collections of books like this with a female lead. It took a bit of time to get the pace moving, but once it did it was fun, quick witted, and I enjoyed her out witting her brothers.

I can already tell by the show they changed quite a bit. Specifically her relationship with Sherlock. Sherlock highly looks down on women, and calls his sister uneducated and basically stupid. Yet she solved the mystery right under his nose lol

In the show it seems like they have a more loving relationship.

An enjoyable palate cleanser. Surprisingly well written. Puts Sherlock Holmes on a pedastal a bit too much (being moody aka "melancholic" does not excuse being cruel).

VERY easy read.

Lady Holmes was a feminist woman far ahead of her times, and one day mysteriously upped and left her life as the widow of a country squire. Enola, her daughter, threatened with the prospect of boarding school, sets off to London in search of her, but became swept up into the kidnapping of a young Marquess. As result, she finds her calling
Spoiler and sets up shop as the World's First Consulting Perditorian, searcher of lost things
.

Written for aged-12 or thereabouts. As such, recommended.

A fun mystery about the younger sister of Sherlock. What’s not to love?

come see me talk more about books over at my twitter!

this was, i guess, fine? i didn't feel much of any kind of connection to the characters. the plot was just fine. and yet i sort of want to continue reading this series out of curiosity about how things will play out.

This was a surprisingly charming and beautifully written book. The only negative I could say is that the action happens very quickly and the books are a bit short, but I think the overall plot of the series would be very satisfying to find the solution to.
