What an ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC Fantasy Romance!!! This was such a fabulous read, with a totally original plot, intriguing world building and characters that grew throughout the story!!

Evra and Rhosyn’s romance story grew throughout the story too. It was a beautiful romance of appreciating and valuing each other, treating each other as equals.

The whole story was brilliantly written! This is my first book by this author and definitely will not be my last!!

◦ I've received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ◦
The book begins with Evra talking with his friend Seven. His desire is to become a scholar and be as far away as possible from his family. Whoever, his master has other plans and keeps persuading Evra to go home and stop his dad from the chaos he keeps creating. The story Is being told from different povs which I always enjoy because it gives me a more in-depth perspective when comes to characters' feelings and the way they react to the story. There were also a couple of funny moments that made me literally snort

I enjoyed the book in general, the story was actually really good, the differences between the regions were really mind blown and people who transform into ravens and can fly and have magical powers? Yes, please. The story is also being told from different povs which I always enjoy because it gives me a more in-depth perspective when comes to characters' feelings and the way they react to the story. There were also a couple of funny moments that made me literally snort and have some fun.

However, there were also a couple of things that I’ve not quite enjoyed. I personally couldn’t find the plot twist in the book, I didn’t have any moment that made me gasp and be like “oh shit” and that part of the book took away from my enjoyment. I really enjoy books that blow my mind with their plot twists because that’s what actually hooks me up to the story in general and keeps me hooked – but sadly for me, I couldn’t figure it out which is the plot twist. I was invested in the book because I enjoyed the story, the world-building, and the whole events that took place in general, but the lack of that “oh” moment was a little bit off-putting. I’ve also had a tad bit of a hard time keeping track of everyone and everything, plenty of characters you come in contact with that are important to the story, however, the story is being told only from a few pov’s – mainly from Evra’s & Rhosyn’s pov.

Evrathedyn was one of the characters that took forever to grow and develop. For more than half of the book he still acted and spoke like a very young boy who still runs away from the duty he has been charged with. However, eventually, he grows and develops but I’m still confused about what made him become the men he was supposed to be because even his love for Rhosyn at the beginning for me personally felt a little bit too toxic.

Rhosynora, on the other hand, I enjoyed her growth and I wished the book would’ve concentrated a little bit more on her because I felt she had the most potential in the book compared to the other characters. The love between her and Evra was kind of insta-love and wasn’t very much developed and pretty much fast forward with everything, which sadly wasn’t exactly my cup of tea.

The book, in general, has been really great so if you enjoy high fantasy, nice world-building, amazing description, and every twisted event and family tradition then this might be for you. However, there can be some trigger warnings such as incest and abuse – they’re not very descriptive but they’re enough to make you a little bit uncomfortable.

Evrathedyn Blackrook never wanted to be a lord. Instead, he spent most of his life with books, dreaming of becoming a scholar. Those dreams are shattered when he learns of his father’s and brother’s deaths, and realizes he is the new lord of the Westerlands. In an attempt to find a cure for his plague filled lands, Evra travels to try to meet one of the Ravenwoods, in the hope that their rare magic could save his people.

The last thing he expected to find there was Rhosynora Ravenwood. Rhosyn is gorgeous and intelligent, but she is trapped by her duty to her family. As Evra gets to know Rhosyn, he falls for her more and more. There is no denying their connection, but it comes at a price. Evra’s horror at Ravenwood traditions cause him to make a choice… a choice that could destroy them both.

Oh. My. God. Cradit has done it again!!! Rhosyn and Evra’s story was heart wrenching beautiful and incredibly addicting. With “The Raven and the Rush,” Cradit has crafted a story full of exhilarating action, agonizing angst, and forbidden romance at its finest. This book was completely and utterly brilliant, and I know it’s one I’ll read again and again.

Rhosyn. I have so much respect and admiration for Rhosynora Ravenwood. She has a kind of quiet strength that I envy, and she’s of course beautiful and smart as well. I love how she was willing to do anything to protect those she loves. Evrathedyn. Evra was a boy at the beginning of this book, but he was a man by the end of it. I loved Evra’s intelligence, and how he had so much character growth over the course of the novel. He is kind, and I admire his devotion to Rhosyn. They have that bold, brilliant, once in a life time kind of connection - their love bends, but never breaks.

When I was reading this book, there were times when I was laughing, some where I was sobbing, and others where I was ready to throw my kindle at the wall. I have so many emotions about this book… I could not recommend it enough!!!

With complex characters and beautiful world building this book is going to be a favorite for many YA fantasy readers! With being able to feel the emotions, the struggles, the heartbreak of the characters you can't help but become invested! Even though it is a fantasy novel I didn’t have any problems relating to the characters! This book was a great start to a new series! The world building in this book is absolutely beautiful! I think that each book in this series is going to be based on a different couple and normally I prefer urban fantasy but I can't wait to be able to revisit this amazing fantasy land again! Happy reading everyone!

Thank you Book of Matches Media and Sarah Cradit for my gifted copy and for having me on the tour!

I finished The Raven and The Rush in one sitting! Although it took me a while to get all of the names in order (there is a helpful guide provided at the beginning of the book) - it was easy to get absorbed into this novel!

I absolutely loved every second of the world-building we got from this - from the Westerlands to Midnight Crest to Midwinter Rest - the descriptions of scenery and the inhabitants in each setting are so lush and extensive.

The Raven and The Rush was my first standalone fantasy novel in a while, and I was pleasantly surprised by how well the timeline moved along. I'm so used to reading series where they save everything until the last 25% of the novel, that this was a breath of fresh air. Each plot point was so well thought out!

The frustration in this book was palpable. The main characters and the side characters feel as if they cannot change their fate. I enjoyed seeing them come to a different conclusion!

Evra and Rhosyn's relationship is...complex, to say the least. I wasn't sure how to feel about it at points, a glaring red flag waving at me in part of the novel. Without spoiling anything, I appreciated how one of them admitted their wrongdoings and did not expect any reciprocation in return. We stan character growth in this household.

Overall, I enjoyed The Raven and The Rush! I cannot wait to see what Sarah has in store for us in the next installment of this collection!!!

This was a unique read for me.

This follows Evra or Evrathedyn, who unfortunately has to take over being lord of his home after his father and brother who basically were tyrants and burned any who showed or accepted magic in their kingdom. Evra travels to find a Ravenwood who could help heal his people. When he meets Rhosynora Ravenwood, all thoughts of asking for her help go out the window and he just wants to get to know her. Same with Nora. They get to know each other and try to understand what it is they feel for each other, all while trying not to allow anything to blossom when their relationship would be doomed from the start.

I really like the world. I want to no more about it. We’re rather limited in the two areas and based on the map, the world is massive! I look forward to learning more in the next books in this series. I do love the unique world, and the magic system, at least the magic system we learn in this part of the world.

I enjoyed the characters for the most part, I mean I really had no qualms with any of them, I just think Evra made some rather poor choices and it was interesting to see how much he grew and changed in this book and became a much more likable person. I loved Nora from the start, I just was confused by the choices she and everyone were making. I didn’t understand what was holding everyone back to bring down her brother. I mean I guess I understood why she didn’t do anything, but no one else tried and that didn’t make sense to me, it wasn’t explained very well for me to understand the politics as to why they couldn’t fight her brother.

The romance was another part of the book that I am still unsure how to feel about. It is a forbidden romance clearly, but seemed a bit instalove which I’m not a fan of. It wasn’t very believable for me, especially after a choice Evra makes, that just I dunno, I was like ummm what?! Lol

The Raven and The Rush by @sarahmcradit; EASILY a five star read for me. I was back and forth about 4.5-5 stars for this book, but the end and the epilogue absolutely won me over. I was sent this ARC by Sarah to review it, and I am so glad it was sent to me! I love these characters, and the story! Sarah has a beautiful way of writing, and I honestly can’t wait to one day have a physical copy of the book so I can tab it, and jump into the world with Evra and Rhosyn again; the artwork in this book was absolutely STUNNING! It was amazing to see these characters brought to life! I can’t wait to read the next book in the book of all things series!

“But time and fate have a way of correcting things.”

Redemption arc, found family, magical powers and two people forced into power when they didn’t want it. The characters didn’t start out perfect, and didn’t end perfect, but each of their arcs is so beautifully crafted it was a joy to read. This book had a beautiful story that had so much more to it than meets the eye. Sarah M. Cradit is a beautiful wordsmith and story teller.

The only reason I didn’t give five stars was the romance side of things seemed really rushed, it didn’t feel as developed as the rest of the book until the very end.
