The character of Asher is introduced in this book!
Mentions past events from the life/unlife of JC

Second reading note:
there are so many characters and themes from this book that kinda faded as the series progressed. I miss some of the characters that had more page time. I did not realize that this is the first book with Nathaniel as well!

More layers were added to all the characters.

I love that there was more time for Anita and Jean-Claude to date and that we actually got to read about it and enjoy their banter.

I definitely think it’s going to end up as a proper poly relationship between the power triad. I just want to see them all happy.

I was relying on Anita to pull me out of my book funk--I'd read two books in a row that just really weren't that good, so I fell back on a series that I knew was bound to be good. I wasn't disappointed! The rape thing still bothers me, but I get it...I don't like it really, but I get it.

This series continues to be incredibly gory. I feel like the amount of detailed eviscerations reduces the amount that I enjoy the plot. The series is quite intense.
