I enjoyed the graphic novel. I LOVE the artist's concept and work. While it may not be the best thing ever, I still enjoyed it.

I've read the first couple books of the Looking Glass Wars series and saw this at the library so decided to check it out. The whole thing was somewhat disappointing to me. Having read [b:The Looking Glass Wars|44170|The Looking Glass Wars (Looking Glass Wars, #1)|Frank Beddor|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1170252564s/44170.jpg|918951] so long ago, there were a lot of things in the book that I was thinking, Huh?, while "reading." The drawings themselves were just a mess to me. A whole lot of scribbles. I skipped over quite a few sections that had no words in order to not tax my brain in figuring out what was being depicted. Though in another sense I'm glad the pictures were somewhat unclear as the storyline itself was somewhat gory and I'm not sure I would have wanted to see all that in full detail. I won't be reading the next one in this graphic novel series; I'll just stick with the novels.

Weird art but a good story. A bit violent, but that's the nature of the Looking Glass Wars book series, upon which this graphic novel version is based. The art was sometimes a little difficult to follow; I prefer a little more realistic style myself. But I love the setting and the worlds Beddor has created, and the character of Hatter Madigan is so darn cool! I especially enjoyed the afterword that talks about the work as if it was found in an actual archive somewhere.

I really enjoyed the twist on Alice in Wonderland, I found the story really interesting and I'm really excited to read the rest of the books. I did find some of the drawings a bit confusing to make out and understand what was happening, so I got slightly lost at times, but within the context of the whole story, I was always able to figure it out.

I hadn't realized this is a continuation of two novels, but it is quite a unique perspective of Alice in Wonderland turned very dark. I find different interpretations fascinating, and this version is no exception. It follows the Hatter as a bodyguard with a killing streak. Not my typical style, but I've already added the novels to my "to read" list. :-)

This is a stand-alone series involving Hatter. I read and understood for the most part even though I have not read The Looking Glass Wars. The art varied in this volume from amazing to weird, but I think it appropriately showed the inside of either; the Hatter’s mind, his quick blurring actions, or effectively the confusion all around him.
Sometimes it is hard to make heads or tails of it. But, he does move extraordinarily fast. The stills and clips we get are worth it. Hatter M seems to change a bit and morph, but he has specialized equipment. This was very interesting to me and a completely different take on “the” hatter or “hatters” completely. The story is detailed and revealed in pieces. As it is, the Hatter M and the reader both come a little more out of the fog of confusion.

The art in this was beautiful but sometimes a little difficult to see what exactly was going on. I really enjoyed the story. It mixed many of my favorite elements; Victorian Paris, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, foreign languages. Parts of the story were also pretty funny like a French man saying "le huh? Anyway, I like Beddor and Cavalier's interpretation of the classic Alice in Wonderland story and the twist they put on it. I look forward to reading the next two volumes!

The graphics for this one are decent, but I felt like I was a bit lost or missing something. I have a feeling I would enjoy this one more had I read The Looking Glass Wars first.
